The Surgical Technician be responsible for set-up and preparation of surgical procedures for physicians and surgical staff. Provides support and communicates directly with surgical teams and supervisory staff.

This is a temporary position and length of assignment may vary based on operational needs and client requirements.This position is responsible to be compliant with the current Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidance, as well as DOH and Agency for Healthcare Administration COVID-19 specific requirements.

Location: Rapid deployment with-in the the United States

Duties and Responsibilities:

Perform and/or provide direction and support for the following services:

  • Responsible for set-up and preparation of surgical procedures for physicians and surgical staff.Screening telephone calls and visitor contact with management.

  • Provides support and communicates directly with surgical teams and supervisory staff.

  • Responds to a variety of inquiries of varying complexity by using knowledge and an understanding of established policies, procedures, and practices for safeguarding information (HIPAA, PHI, PII), including maintaining confidentiality of all company proprietary information.

  • Maintains professionalism, ethical standards, discretion, candor, privacy and confidentiality of all company proprietary information, meetings, communication, and documents, including implementation of policies and procedures consistent with those of the organization.

  • Records and maintains patient information in accordance with standard protocols, and the Privacy Act.

  • Protects patients' privacy through confidentiality, infection control procedures, assuring consistent medication administration, and assuring proper storage and maintenance procedures for all equipment and supplies.

  • Performs duties in a safe manner and follows the corporate safety policy.

  • Performs other duties as assigned in accordance with contract requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of 1-year Surgical Technician experience in an acute hospital setting is preferred.

  • Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) by the NBSTSA or as a Tech in Surgery-Certified (TS-C) by the NCCT.

  • Basic Life Support for HealthCare Provider (BLS/HCP) certification from either AHA, ARC, or the Military Training Network.

  • Must be able to multi-task, be detail-oriented, be organized and have excellent verbal and communication skills

  • Proficiency with computer and common office equipment, as well as with MS Office products required.

  • Must be able to perform duties in a stressful and high paced environment without physical limitations.

  • Ability to adapt to sudden changes and flexibility in work requirements to include potential shift changes based on operational needs and/or command priorities.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Due to varied current global health climate, additional personal protective equipment (PPE) guidelines may apply. Employees may potentially be working in an environment supporting the medical response to an emergency health crisis created by a highly infectious disease, COVID-19.

  • The position will require walking, standing, or sitting for periods of up to or beyond 10 to 12 hours each day

  • Under urgent or emergency situations, the incumbent may need to run, sprint, or run up or down stairs

  • Work involves sitting and standing for prolonged periods of time.
