What's the Opportunity?

Anchor QEA is seeking a full-time, junior-level engineer located in Seattle or Bellingham, Washington, to support our local project teams with civil and environmental engineering design and construction management of environmental remediation and demolition projects. We are interested in a candidate that has the capacity to grow and is a quick learner, detail-orientated, a committed team player, open to travel/fieldwork, and possesses strong written and verbal communication skills. The candidate will have 0-3 years of experience with engineering design including site investigation, construction drawings and specifications, cost estimating, and construction oversight. Experience with environmental demolition projects, soil and groundwater investigation and remediation (including in-situ treatment methods) is preferred.


Responsibilities:

  • Preparing engineering calculations, cost estimates, design drawings, and specifications for remediation of contaminated buildings, and remediation of impacted soil and groundwater.
  • Developing engineer's cost estimates and construction schedules for designs.
  • Writing to support the preparation of sampling and analysis plans, remedial investigation and feasibility study reports, design documents, and technical specifications.
  • Providing construction observation at active remediation project sites. While this position is located in northern Washington State, the candidate will be required to spend approximately 12 to 16 weeks training at active project sites located in the New York City metropolitan area. All expenses would be reimbursed for this travel. After the initial training period, the candidate can expect to be full-time on-site in Washington state in 2022.
  • Completing field assignments, including conducting environmental sampling related to building materials, soil, sediment, groundwater, and water quality.
  • Conducting qualitative and quantitative analysis of environmental data.

What Are We Looking For?

Ideal candidates will have the following:

  • M.S. or M.S. degree in relevant field (e.g., Civil and/or Environmental Engineering)
  • 0 to 3 years of experience
  • 40-hour HAZWOPER certification (preferred; will be provided by Anchor QEA upon hire if not certified)
  • Experience with upland remediation sites and demolition, including the planning and implementation of environmental sampling, data analysis, feasibility studies, and remedial design
  • Experience with CERCLA, RCRA, or TSCA regulations preferred
  • Understanding of the application of engineering principles to engineering design, including cost estimating, development of plans and specifications, development of bid packages, development of dredge plans, and overseeing design implementation in the field (i.e., construction management)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • AutoCAD Civil 3D and ArcGIS experience a plus
  • Critical thinking and strong problem-solving skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with environmental sampling and data analysis
  • Ability to travel for field and/or construction projects
  • Ability to pass standard drug screen
