Job Responsibilities
- Develop scope of services, technical approach, and fee estimates for geotechnical projects within railroad right of way.
- Perform coordination between technical staff, railroad clients, subcontractors as necessary to execute subsurface explorations and other field efforts on railroad right of way.
- Develop subsurface exploration plans and perform or oversee field logging of explorations.
- Perform geotechnical reconnaissance and field mapping.
- Perform initial site reconnaissance to evaluate and assess landslide, embankment failure, rockfall or rock slope distress, and other geohazards, and provide recommendations for mitigation alternatives, geotechnical design studies, and construction considerations.
- Perform geotechnical engineering analyses, studies, and calculations.
- Prepare construction bid documents (plans and specifications) and review contractor bids.
- Prepare geotechnical laboratory test programs; analyze and interpret test results.
- Write geotechnical engineering reports.
- Perform or oversee construction observation on project sites and prepare daily construction summary reports.
- Manage multiple clients, contracts, and projects.
- Interact and communicate with clients, vendors, and staff at all levels.
- Lead, mentor, oversee, and/or supervise engineers and other technical staff.
- Review engineering calculations and technical reports prepared by lower-level engineers.
- Support business development and marketing activities, including preparation of cost proposals and presentations to existing and prospective clients.
- Follow Shannon & Wilson’s Quality Assurance policy.
- Follow and promote Shannon and Wilsons Health and Safety and Loss Prevention policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned by your supervisor.
