Cascadia’s origins can be traced to a small, unassuming pizza parlor in Downtown Seattle, where Charlie Scott and Marc Daudon met over a slice. At the time, Charlie was with a management consulting firm working on waste characterization studies, and Marc, an experienced environmental consultant who was new to town, was looking for what opportunity Seattle might serve up next. It wasn’t long before the two decided to build something new together, forming Cascadia Consulting Group in March 1993.

Throughout the 1990s, Cascadia created successful waste reduction and recycling policies and programs across the West Coast while building trusted relationships with clients. Starting in 2000, Cascadia broadened its core service offerings to include sustainability planning, natural resource management, and climate resilience strategies.

Over 20 years later, Cascadia fittingly returned to its roots by celebrating Cascadia's ownership transfer with a pizza party. On November 6, 2015, Marc and Charlie transferred majority ownership of the company to long-standing senior management, ushering in a second generation of leadership by Co-Presidents Ruth Bell and Amity Lumper. Under this new ownership, Cascadia is now 51%  women-owned. The two owner-managers have been with the company for more than a decade and have served on the Executive Management Team since 2014; they collectively oversee strategies related to our mission and vision, business development, and long-term growth.
