The Hadland lab is seeking a highly qualified and motivated postdoctoral fellow to work in a collaborative environment leading research on the mechanisms of hematopoietic stem cell development and leukemogenesis. The focus of our lab is to unravel the dynamic intercellular interactions and signal pathways governing the generation of blood and immune cells during embryonic development and apply this knowledge toward engineering novel approaches for the study and treatment of blood and immune disorders.

This position will focus on leveraging mouse models, human pluripotent stem cells, and engineered vascular models combined with single cell technologies and computational approaches to study the dynamics of normal developmental hematopoiesis and the prenatal origins of pediatric leukemias. The position will provide opportunities to advance translational applications in the areas of gene and cellular therapies and disease modeling, and for collaborations with colleagues in UW Genome Sciences and Bioengineering. This position is ideally suited for a candidate who enjoys working collaboratively across disciplines, mentoring junior scientific investigators, and contributing to an innovative academic environment to forge new scientific directions.

Responsibilities
Handling projects independently, including literature reviews, experimental design, and data analysis, under the guidance of the laboratory PI.
  • Contributing to the preparation of research reports, publications, and oral presentations.
  • Opportunities for presentations at scientific conferences and symposiums.
Qualifications
  • PhD in a relevant field (molecular biology, cell biology, genome sciences, developmental biology, immunology, or related fields).
  • Track record of productive research, with high quality first-author publications.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.
  • Experience in molecular biology and cell culture techniques is required.
  • Experience in genomics, single cell transcriptomics, and bioinformatic analysis is desired.
  • Additional experience in culture and differentiation of human pluripotent stem cells, primary human and murine blood cells, flow cytometry, gene editing, proteomics, immunohistochemistry, and/or microscopy is a plus.

A statement describing your commitment and contributions toward greater diversity, equity, inclusion, and antiracism in your career or that will be made through your work at Fred Hutch is requested of all finalists.

The annual base salary range for this position is from $65,484 to $100,000 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.
