Aerojet Rocketdyne is seeking a Senior Electric Thruster Engineer for our Redmond, WA office.
This is a position for an experienced engineer in support of electric propulsion systems. The successful candidate will support development and qualification of ion thrusters, Hall thrusters, or other electric propulsion products.
This position can be filled at this level or one level higher for more experienced applicants.

As a member of the Engineering staff, the Senior Engineer will work with minimal direction and exercise judgement in reaching objectives and executing assignments. They will guide the successful completion of major projects and may function as a program technical team leader. The Senior Engineer will act as an external spokesperson for the organization on matters pertaining to program plans and objectives. They will serve as a technical authority and provide guidance and training to more junior personnel.
30% - Plans, prepares for, and executes development, qualification, and acceptance testing of electric thrusters.
20% - Coordinates thruster and process development including design and engineering analyses.
20% - Uses engineering and scientific principles to prevent, investigate, and resolve hardware and process anomalies.
20% - Supports flight hardware production from component procurement through spacecraft integration.
10% - Leads project or program teams to define and implement engineering solutions to meet group, organization, and enterprise objectives.
A Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or other related discipline is required. 5+ years of electric propulsion experience or an equivalent combination of postgraduate education and experience are required. Must have experience with electric propulsion laboratory hardware and test. Must have experience working in a team environment and excellent written and verbal skills.
This position requires technical expertise in electric propulsion and knowledge of related disciplines. The successful candidate will possess an understanding of plasma physics and material science and their practical application to electric thruster operation.
Requires U.S. Citizenship or status as a U.S. Person. Must be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information, and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.
