Aerojet Rocketdyne is seeking an Engineer for the Electric Thruster Engineering group in our Redmond, WA office. The successful candidate will support development, qualification, and production of Hall thrusters, ion engines, arcjets, or other electric propulsion products.
This position can be filled at this level or one level higher for more experienced applicants.

In our Redmond, WA, site (Seattle area), we fabricate, assemble, and test chemical and electric thrusters, as well as small scale propulsion systems. Our electric propulsion systems enable a wide variety of missions from the exploration of our solar system to global communication and the surveillance of severe weather and wild fires.

Under guidance of senior staff, the Engineer performs entry-level assignments contributing to the completion of program milestones. The Engineer is expected to quickly acquire the higher level knowledge and skills necessary to resolve increasingly complex challenges. The position requires independent professional judgment and application of engineering principles, theories and concepts.
30% - Supports design, engineering analysis, and manufacture of electric thrusters and their components.
20% - Writes test procedures, procures equipment, conducts tests, analyzes test data, and writes test reports.
20% - Coordinates product and process development from initial ideas through spacecraft integration.
20% - Supports investigation and resolution of hardware and process anomalies and issues identified by risk management or preventative and corrective action.
10% - Engages other members of project or program teams, management, and technical staff to define and implement engineering solutions to meet group, organization, and company objectives.
A Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or other related discipline and 2+ years of related experience (or equivilent experience) is required. An advanced degree is preferred. Coursework and knowledge in the following areas are preferred: thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, materials, electrical circuits, plasma physics, and electric propulsion. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint is required. Prefer experience with Python, MATLAB, engineering analysis software packages, or CAD packages. Experience with laboratory hardware, mechanical assembly, or test is a plus. Must have experience working in a team environment and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Requires U.S. Citizenship or status as a U.S. Person. Must be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information, and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.
