THE ROLE:

We are building a team to keep AMD at the forefront of the rapidly developing AI/ML field, staying on top of the most recent advances and developing our own innovations to contribute to the community. This team will provide critical input to AMD's AI hardware and software roadmaps across the entire product line (GPU, AI Engine, and CPU) to make sure AMD's offerings are aligned with future technology directions. As an early member of the team, you can help us refine the direction and strategy to fulfill this important charter.

THE PERSON:

The ideal candidate will have knowledge of and passion for both AI/ML models/applications and hardware/software systems. You'll enjoy learning and be skilled at communicating what you've learned with others.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Follow the latest developments in AI/ML models and techniques through publications, blog posts, conferences, etc.
  • Work with team members to prototype and analyze them the most critical/relevant developments on AMD platforms
  • Participate in developing innovative new techniques that leverage the strength of AMD platforms for improved performance and higher quality and share them with the AI community through publications and open-source contributions
  • Communicate findings with AMD internal teams and, as appropriate, the external AI community

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience developing and debugging in Python and ML frameworks such as Pytorch
  • Experience with current state-of-the-art AI models, especially in NLP and Generative AI
  • Experience optimizing the performance of AI models on accelerator hardware, including:
    • Understanding of AI model optimization techniques such as operator fusion, quantization, and sparsity
    • Solid understanding of hardware & software systems
    • Ability to analyze and address performance bottlenecks

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

  • M.S. or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
