Contract Specialist

This individual reports to the Contracts & Compliance Manager, supporting contract related activities including preparation and development of contractual agreements and compliance documents. A liaison between cross function groups including marketing, finance, business development, supply chain, engineering, shipping and manufacturing to review, draft, and negotiate customer and supplier contracts and implement compliance program procedures.

This includes identifying and assisting in risk management, preparing and maintaining contractual documentation, analyzing contractual terms and conditions, and supporting contractual and compliance resolution of issues.

Conduct detailed analysis of existing/proposed regulation and industry practices and related contract compliance requirements, such as management of customer and government property and export requirements (ITAR and EAR), and develop & implement processes to meet these requirements.

Functions and Responsibilities

  • Support review of agreements such as nondisclosure agreements, contract amendments and contract extensions, including reviews of terms and conditions.
  • Analyze and review contract requirements, terms and conditions to review for compliance with appropriate laws, regulations and company processes and procedures.
  • Draft and support negotiations of contractual documents/agreements
  • Assist with contract compliance and support resolutions of contract issues.
  • Review and develop responses for compliance documents and act as liaison to troubleshoot customer compliance related inquiries
  • Develop and administer export compliance processes and procedures
  • Acts as a liaison with all departments to facilitate the contract life cycle from need identification, through drafting review, negotiation and approval, to execution and performance to completion and close out in accordance with company processes and procedures
  • Supports policy, process and guideline changes to maintain compliance business processes within legal and regulatory requirements and industry compliance programs; this includes ITAR and Trade Regulations
  • Conduct research to support contract and compliance requirements
  • Maintain compliance records and administer customer and government property management procedures.
  • Perform special projects as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree (BA) in Business Administration or a related discipline. Contracts management certification preferred. Advanced degree (MS/MBA/JD) may be preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform the essential functions of the job typically acquired through ten or more years of related experience of increasing responsibility. Has experience planning and leading projects.
  • Ability to manage contracts in distributed sites or across multiple divisions.
  • Understands and has demonstrated proficiency as a subject matter expert in the Contract Management pre-bid, bid, and post-award main phases and multiple stages. Ability to negotiate effectively on comprehensive proposals with major business impact.
  • Understanding of the financial considerations and linkage between business and immediate contract area. Demonstrated knowledge of financial aspects of business and program management.
  • Ability to solve a wide range of unique problems of considerable scope and complexity that may require new approaches or significant exceptions or modification of standard procedures.

The wage range for this role considers allowances for a number of factors, including but not limited to required experience, skill level, prior training, licensure/certifications, education and other business needs. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $82,070-$136,921.
