As an Environmental Health and Safety Manager with Briggs & Stratton you will lead safety, environmental compliance efforts and manage relationships with applicable Federal, State, and local contacts for multiple locations. Implement Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) programs that protect employees and reduce risk to the company in coordination with local management. Investigate accidents and employee complaints as necessary and partners with plant leadership to implement preventative measures.

You will do this by:
  • Coordinating and implementingthe application of safety rules, policies, and initiatives that help to create a safe workplace. Maintains OSHA logs, EHS records, and reporting for internal and external use.
  • Leadingall plant-level environmental compliance and sustainability initiatives (hazardous waste, air emissions, water, obtaining and maintaining permits, and etc.) both directly and in coordination with internal specialists and external consultants. May include multiple facilities.
  • Leadingsite activities with regulatory agencies to verify compliance, resolve situations, and maintain a cooperative working relationship.
  • Escalating/reportingany potential violations and implements corrections as needed.
  • Conductingfrequent safety and environmental inspections and procedural audits in the field and has the skills, knowledge, and ability to take immediate corrective action if required.
  • Recommendingand implementingEHS related capital projects for supported facilities.
  • Investigatingall workplace accidents and environmental incidents through root cause analysis and recommendingpolicies, procedures, and/or other actions to correct problems and prevent future occurrences.
  • May direct the work of others
  • Partneringwith Global Security to implement programs and technology that protect employees and assets.
  • Performingother duties as assigned.
You are the kind of person who is/has:
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of applicable EHS regulations ensuring facility compliance with government agencies (i.e. OSHA, EPA, DNR, etc.) and safety regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing environment safety (i.e. industrial hygiene, ergonomics, machinery guards, interlock systems, industrial vehicle training, PPE, and etc.).
  • Experience in implementing comprehensive safety, environmental, and sustainability projects.
  • Ability to investigate and define problems, collect data, establish facts, and use sound judgment to draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills. Computer skills, data analysis and reporting tools, and other applicable applications.
  • Ability to work independently to carry tasks/projects through to completion while meeting established deadlines.
  • Fluent in English and primary language used in area ofresponsibility and/or location

Education
Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Environmental Engineering or related Science disciplines
Experience Requirements

Minimum 5 years of EHS experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment
