Essential Duties:

• Assist Camp Director in planning and implementing engaging camp activities. Provide leadership and instruction in camp activities.
• Be an active participant in all general camp programs such as singing, crafts, field trips, games and other activities.
• Be attentive, joyful, energetic, encouraging and responsible. Set a good example for campers and be a positive role model.
• Maintain a positive attitude and a caring attitude and bring enthusiasm and energy daily.
• Implement rules and safety protocols. Create a safe, healthy, inclusive environment at camp.
• Be prepared and organized. Come ready with creative solutions during challenges or when things don't go as planned.
• Communicate effectively with the Director, co-leaders, campers and parents.

• Good verbal, written, and telephone communication skills are required.
• Ability to interact courteously with the public to acknowledge both compliments and complaints.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Demonstrated good judgement in problem solving and responding to customer needs.
• Proficiency in standard computer software, such as Microsoft Office Suite applications Word, Excel and Outlook

Minimum Qualifications:

• Must be 16 or older by the date of hire
• Must have a genuine interest in working with children
• Enthusiastic, responsible, dependable
• Must possess or be able to obtain First Aid/CPR certification prior to start date
• Must successfully complete a thorough background check as required by the Child/Adult Abuse Information Act
• Must have good written and verbal communication skills

• One year working with children in some capacity

Hours of Work
8 hours per day between 7:45am-6:15pm. Monday through Friday, June 24-August 23rd. Training days and times will be scheduled the week of June 17, details to be confirmed. During camp sessions attendance is extremely necessary for all staff positions. Day camp staff are seasonal positions that support a mandatory staff to camper ratio. There is very little opportunity for scheduled days off other than Saturdays, Sundays and holidays.

Working Conditions
Performs work in indoor and outdoor settings including multipurpose rooms, parks, playgrounds, beaches and commercial recreation sites. Exposure to extended periods of direct sunlight and/or cool and damp weather is possible. The job requires frequent light lifting (5-10 bs.) and infrequent heavy lifting of up to 50lbs.
