The Senior Benefits Program Manager is a strategic and operational individual contributor role that will lead and program manage benefits for NanoString. This individual will provide valuable "subject matter expertise" in the development and implementation of programs, managing initiatives, and leading process improvements for improved effectiveness globally. Responsibilities also include managing the relationship with our benefits brokers, facilitating benefits open enrollment and providing consultation and support to employees. In addition, the role is responsible for maintaining and administering systems used for administering, analyzing, and tracking benefits while ensuring program compliance and governance.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and manage global benefit programs.
  • Manage leave of absence and time off programs.
  • Lead and facilitate the implementation of key program cycles such as the annual benefits enrollment process for all countries.
  • Perform system "setup" and administration tasks to support plan needs for enrollment, changes, and approval workflows in Workday.
  • Develop and manage the global benefits calendar.
  • Develop and implement employee and vendor communications to ensure messages provide updates, education, and rationale. Identify effective and innovative ways to communicate about and educate on compensation and benefits.
  • Work with HR Partners and HR Operations to prepare the data submissions for compensation surveys and build and update salary structures accordingly.
  • Identify and execute process improvements.
  • Implement initiatives to support the Company's stock programs.
  • Stay current with legal and regulatory trends and requirements globally in order to provide consultation and analysis for recommendations.
  • Utilize Workday and other partner systems to provide reporting for financial reporting, forecasting, and tracking as well as conduct analysis to inform decisions.
  • Support the day-to-day operation of benefit programs working with external broker/providers, to ensure programs are administered efficiently and effectively and that eligibility and invoicing is accurate.
  • Conduct regular reviews with vendors and facilitate audit processes on a regular basis.
  • Develop/revise and communicate updates to policies.
  • Support the formulation or revision of vendor agreements and statements of work, providing data detail and insights to consider the next steps and then approval.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of hands-on experience with benefit program planning, analysis and administration, including at least 2 years working with international benefits.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Finance, Human Resource Management, or Business Administration
  • Knowledge of federal and state regulations. Sound knowledge of the regulations and laws governing compensation and benefits programs (FLSA, Sec 125, ERISA, HIPAA, COBRA, FMLA, etc.). Working knowledge of international benefits regulations, a plus.
  • Experience in managing leave of absence, time-off, and workers' compensation programs.
  • Ability to organize complex data sets into easy-to-understand overviews/summaries.
  • High-level proficiency with HRIS (Workday) and Microsoft Office; highly proficient with pivot tables, vlookups, complex formulas, and managing large data sets for analytics. Experience using the latest analysis methods to provide recommendations to make informed decisions.
  • Strong program management skills - attention to detail with excellent organizational skills
  • Experience in both smaller company (~100 employees) and large global company (>2000 employees) environments
  • Must be a proactive solution-oriented team player with a proven ability to collaborate with all levels of stakeholders.
  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills for communicating policies, rationale ("the why"), education sessions (new hires and current employees).
  • Ability to represent NanoString in a professional manner and promote NanoString as an employer of choice in Seattle and the biotech sector.
  • This role works a hybrid schedule (3 days at the Seattle office, 2 days work from home on a weekly basis).
  • Will consider making this part-time or flexible work arrangement

Target Base Salary Range:

$85,000 -$110,000 Annual Salary

Base salary is an integral part of NanoString's total compensation package. Base salary considers an individual's skills, experience, and competitive market value. The base salary range represent what NanoString pays for a job within a salary grade based on external market data in comparison to similar positions from other companies in our industry. Employees generally enter a salary grade at the lower-to-mid-point in the range.

Other compensation elements include a discretionary annual bonus, incentive compensation for sales roles, Restricted Stock Unit (RSU) grants for all new hires, comprehensive benefit plans and paid time off, including designated holidays.
