STATUS: REGULAR, NON-EXEMPT FULL-TIME

PAY: $31.25 - $34.66 (DOE)

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • HS Diploma or GED
  • Minimum 5 years of payroll experience (including HRIS systems)
  • Minimum 5 years of customer service experience

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Excellent written/oral communication skills
  • Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills
  • Intermediate Microsoft Outlook skills
  • Excellent memory
  • 10 key: minimum 7,000 kph
  • Typing: minimum 60 wpm
  • Detail oriented and attention to detail
  • General knowledge of business protocols
  • Ability and willingness to keep information confidential

SOFTWARE-RELATED SKILLS:

  • Microsoft Word and Excel required
  • UltiPro/UKG Pro, helpful
  • Working knowledge of integrated database applications and ability to use new software programs with basic training.

SCOPE OF POSITION:

  • Provide support to the Payroll Director and provide payroll support to the Northwest Division of The Salvation Army.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work effectively with the Payroll Director to accomplish the following:
  • Using UltiPro/UKG Pro, process payroll for approximately 1,200 regular employees on a bi-weekly basis.
    • During summer camp season, an additional 300 seasonal employees may be hired.
    • During the Christmas season, a secondary payroll is processed on the bi-weekly payroll off weeks to handle the additional 500 - 700 seasonal employees hired.
  • Understand payroll, payroll tax, and labor laws for Alaska, Idaho, Montana, and Washington State.
  • Manage and respond to garnishment, tax levy, and child support orders.
  • Manage and respond to employee payroll inquiries.
  • Complete and respond to Verifications of Employment.
  • Regularly audit employee database to ensure completeness and accuracy.
  • Process employee changes and terminations in UltiPro after receiving appropriate approvals via internal system.
  • Work with other departments to ensure all payroll-related policies and procedures are understood and followed.
  • Ability to draw correlations between multiple data sources and identify patterns.
  • Run standard and custom payroll reports in UltiPro then distribute as necessary.
  • Regularly audit timecards in UltiPro Time & Attendance.
  • Train internal customers how to use the UltiPro and UltiPro Time & Attendance systems as needed.
  • Work with Accounts Payable to issue off-cycle checks as needed.
  • Will work in the office 5 days a week for at least the first 60 days for training purposes. After a minimum knowledge threshold has been demonstrated, office work may be reduced to two scheduled days a week; with the other 3 days worked remotely.
  • There are specific criteria that must be met for working remotely, a Remote Work Agreement will need to be reviewed and signed.
  • Must be able to handle confidential and sensitive employee information in a professional and discrete manner.
  • Assist with other job-related tasks as assigned.

      PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

      • Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis
      • Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers, and reach overhead
      • Ability to operate telephone
      • Ability to operate a desktop or laptop computer
      • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. (usually file boxes)
      • Ability to access and produce information from a computer
      • Ability to understand written information

        Health Insurance: Low bi-weekly premiums ($34.62) for employee only coverage, Kaiser HMO for those residing in a Kaiser service area, Anthem EPO/PPO is available for those residing outside of a Kaiser service area. Voluntary +1 and +family coverage at additional cost. Delta Dental DHMO and DPPO dental insurance offered starting at $2.31 bi-weekly cost. Employees are covered by an employer paid life insurance policy. Voluntary supplemental life, short-term and long-term disability plans are available.

        Retirement Plans: Employer-funded Money Purchase Pension Plan (Defined Contribution Plan) 50% vested at 5 years eligible service time, employee funded voluntary 403(b) options

        Parental Leave: Benefit will be one week (5 business days) of paid leave at the employee's normal rate of pay for births, adoptions and foster placements.

        Sick Leave: 12 days annually accruing from day one, eligible for use after 3 months' service time.

        Paid Vacation: 2 weeks annually accruing from day one, for non-exempt positions. 4 weeks annually accruing from day one, for exempt positions. Accrued vacation eligible for use after 6 months' service time.

        Paid Holidays: 13 designated holidays + 1 floating holiday per year
