SET THE COURSE

Responsible for meeting business objectives and sales targets. Buyer plans and manages the assortment for both retail and Ecomm, the product flow for both channels as well as individual store assortment variances based on the diverse nature of location, size and type of store. Partners with Design team to make sure product selection represents the appropriate direction of the brand. Buyer owns apparel product selection for Tommy Bahama retail stores and Ecomm. Ultimate responsibility for the achievement of the apparel retail and ecomm financial goals thru strong collaboration with all partners. Also responsible for distributing product information and insuring that all dept. merchandising team efforts support the Tommy Bahama lifestyle and brand.

BE THE ISLAND GUIDE

  • Bottom line responsibility for the achievement of sales plans, profit margin, turnover, and returns for the apparel line/category.
  • Own annual/seasonal apparel business plans; including financial, merchandise assortments, classifications, and store sales/stock plans.
  • Manage timing/flow of product, based on seasonal plans and entrance and exit strategies.
  • Select merchandise across all categories of assigned brand apparel, delivering a strong brand point of view in our stores.
  • Assort between stores optimizing the different geographic, climate and demographic profiles of our stores.
  • Apply store knowledge based upon attributes, field input, store travel, and historical data to influence and direct distribution decisions.
  • Collaborate with on line Merchants to achieve the goals and initiatives for Ecomm.
  • Analyze performance on business goals and implement plans to improve results.
  • Research and analyze seasonal trends/opportunities for wholesale and design teams; as our stores have the most complete and forward presentation of the brand.
  • Responsible for accurate forecasting and appropriate adjustments to trend.
  • Manage allocation strategies to insure allocators maintain proper replenishment strategies of stock goals and flow plans, including stock balancing and timely transfers.
  • Manage planning strategies to insure planners maintain fiscal responsibility in the achievement of sales goals.
  • Maximize Sellthru within selling cycles to reduce volume transferred to outlet, therefore reducing markdowns and maintaining profit.
  • Identify key items and key looks for each delivery.
  • Work with Visual team on merchandise mix to best convey the Tommy Bahama image.
  • Launch each season with a well communicated product education program (generally presented at Store Manager's Conference).
  • Work with Regional and Store Managers, including appropriate staff to ensure needs of the store are being met.

ESSENTIALS FOR LIFE IN PARADISE

  • Bachelors' degree (business preferred) or equivalent experience
  • 6+ yrs. experience as an apparel buyer for a multi-location retail operation.
  • Strong computer skills; including Microsoft Office and Super User with Excel.
  • Knowledge of Tommy Bahama's Image and how that translates to the assortment of the line at the retail level.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to articulate concepts to merchandise team.
  • Proven leadership skills with an understanding of the importance of team building/development, while fostering partnerships.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Exceptional problem solving/decision making skills combined with the ability to be organized.
  • Ability to stay current with trends with a keen eye for fashion and a strong attention to detail.
  • Demonstrates financial management, merchandising, analytical, assortment planning and leadership skills.
  • Demonstrates the ability to remain flexible in a fast past environment.

Multiple factors will vary the applicable rate of pay for this role, including an individual's experience, knowledge, and skillset, as well as work location and available budget.

Rate Range: $76,951.88-$128,253.13 per year
