Wage Range: $26.25 - $42.00 per hour

Posted wage ranges represent the entire range from minimum to maximum. For jobs with more than one level, the posted range reflects the minimum of the lowest level and the maximum of the highest level. Some positions also offer additional premiums based on shift, certifications or degrees. Job Summary:
Manages all aspects of the volunteer program consistent with EvergreenHealth Hospice Services and procedures. Responsible for program coordination, recruitment, placement, screening, training, supervision and evaluation of all volunteers in service of the Hospice patients and their families in multiple service sites. Is a member of the Hospice interdisciplinary team/s and works collaboratively with all EvergreenHealth volunteer programs in support of maximal utilization of volunteer resources.
Primary Duties:
  1. Responsible for the coordination and administration of the Hospice volunteer program, under the direction of department management.
  2. Provides information to individuals and community groups about the Hospice volunteer program, recruits, screens, interviews, and educates volunteer candidates.
  3. Plans, coordinates, and facilitates the Hospice volunteer program core training for new volunteers and arranges/facilitates position-specific training for each specialty area patient care (inpatient unit and patient homes), animal assisted therapy, compassionate touch, reception, office support, bereavement, and phone support, adhering to regulatory standards.
  4. Performs other duties as assigned.
License, Certification, Education or Experience:
REQUIREDfor the position:
  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Prior experience preferred in a volunteer program, non-profit organization, hospice program, and/or a related organization
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills, ability to work effectively with adult and geriatric clients of all ethnic backgrounds in relation to volunteer activities
  • Demonstrated interest, comfort, and knowledge in dealing with issues related to end-of-life care
  • Current Washington State drivers license and proof of insurability
DESIREDfor the position:
  • Bachelors degree or equivalent education/experience
  • Experience in program coordination, development, implementation, and evaluation
  • Experience in coordinating and planning teaching programs
