Job Overview

The FMLA Leave Specialist is responsible for ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations regarding FMLA, administering FMLA leave requests, company leave donation program, short-term and long-term disability plans and providing support to employees and managers throughout the FMLA process.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties & Job Functions:

  • Process and manage all FMLA leave requests, including reviewing documentation, determining eligibility, and tracking leave usage.
  • Ensure that FMLA leave is accurately recorded in FMLA Manager and HCM system.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for employees and managers regarding FMLA inquiries and requests.
  • Provide guidance to employees and managers on FMLA eligibility, rights, and responsibilities.
  • Communicate FMLA policies and procedures clearly and effectively.
  • Collaborate with HR team members, managers, and other relevant stakeholders to facilitate smooth FMLA processes.
  • Coordinate with healthcare providers and third-party administrators as needed to obtain medical certifications and other documentation.
  • Work closely with payroll, finance, and benefits team to ensure accurate processing of FMLA-related payments and benefits.
  • Escalate issues to management as appropriate.
  • Drafts and/or recommends revisions to company leave policies and producers to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations and best practice.
  • Preserves confidentiality of employee medical documentation and files.
  • Maintains knowledge of all applicable leave and accommodation laws including FMLA, and state and local laws.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Mandatory:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • (3) years of experience in administration of leave (FMLA/ADA) for multi-state employer.
  • (2) years of Human Resources experience exhibiting a broad understanding of HR processes and procedures.
  • Advanced skills in spreadsheet, database, and presentation software skills; primarily MS Office Suite.
