Job Summary:

Reporting to the National Director of Employee Relations, the Human Resources Manager will oversee several business units within the HR Department. The Human Resources Manager will act as the "face" of human resources providing direct support to their assigned lines of business, and leveraging the HR 'specialist' team, as needed to deliver service and execute the organization's HR strategy. The HR Manager will support the National Director of Employee Relations with planning, directing, and coordinating human resource management initiatives for the organization to maximize the strategic use of human resources and maintain functions such as Compensation, FMLA/Accommodations, and the HR File Room to ensure regulatory compliance for the assigned employee population. Requires a solid understanding of business operations. In-state and out of state travel is required and at times is frequent depending on business need.

Essential Functions:
    Collaborate with the National Director of Employee Relations to help develop, design and implement policies, procedures, programs, and guidelines to support the alignment of the workforce with the organization's strategic goals.
  • Maintain human resources policies and procedures for the HR Manager's assigned lines of business to ensure they are current, relevant and supporting the needs of the organization, while also complying with the appropriate federal, state, and local laws. Conduct review on annual basis and recommend changes as needed to the National Director of Employee Relations.
  • Ensure quick resolution and proper documentation of employee concerns and performance management issues, including evaluating performance documentation up to employment termination by utilizing policy, HR tools, labor regulations and HR methodologies.
  • Conduct confidential investigations, document findings and make recommendations for resolution.
  • Oversee Compensation to ensure proper consideration of the relationship of salary to performance of each employee and provides consultation on salary administration to managers, Finance, and Executive Leadership.
  • Ensure the availability and training of appropriate staff resources and talent to meet business needs.
  • Conduct a continuing study of HR Manager's assigned line of business policies, programs, and practices to keep management informed of new local, state, and federal developments.
  • Ensures that HR Manager's assigned line of business metrics are captured and monitors results to respond to root causes by developing and deploying countermeasures.
  • Ensures availability to staff, team building, building rapport with individuals, encouraging strong collaborative relationships between individuals and departments, solicits and applies feedback, and offers self-improvement to staff.
  • Working under limited supervision using standardized practices and/or methods; directing other persons within a department and/or across several small work units; and monitoring budget expenditures.
  • Understanding of HR principles, business processes and employment laws, including EEOC, FLSA, FMLA, ADA, HIPAA, etc.
Other Functions:
  • Provide support and back-up to Human Resource Department as needed.
  • Able to react to change productively and handle other essential tasks as assigned.
  • Facilitates improvement processes regarding team performance.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management, Business Management or related field.
  • Minimum of eight (8) years of Human Resources Generalist experience, with at least five (5) of those years in a leadership/management role in a large HR Department. Full scope HR Generalist experience, with heavy emphasis on Employee Relations, FMLA/Accommodations and Compensation.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain partnerships and solid working relationships with key stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Must be able to think strategically and view the business from a general management standpoint.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to make formal presentations in front of large audiences as needed.
  • Ability to operate in fast-paced, dynamic environment, handle adversity and frequent change, and balance workload with multiple and competing priorities.
  • Customer-service focus, with demonstrated experience dealing successfully with front-line internal and external customers.
  • Experience in administering human resources policies, programs and practices: including planning, organizing, developing, implementing, coordinating, and directing.

Preferred

  • PHR/SHRM certification from Human Resources Certification Institute.
  • Prior experience with public/charter schools, in an HR capacity.
  • Prior experience with non-profit/social services organizations.
  • Master's Degree in HR management or related field.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish.
Physical Demands:

Must be able to read, write, and communicate both verbally and in written form to express and exchange ideas. While performing the responsibilities of this job, the employee must be able to access all components of workstation and other office equipment. Frequent typing, writing, bending and twisting. Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds.

Work Environment:

General office environment with moderate noise. This position is mostly sedentary, involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. A busy environment with many unscheduled interruptions. Frequent computer use at workstation for extended periods of time. Public contact position requiring appropriate business apparel.
