The Medical Assistant- Residency intended start date is: September 9, 2024.

Information about the program:

* CPR/BLS card not required at time of hire. To be obtained within 4weeks of hire date (via MultiCare)

By participating in this program, you would be hired into a full-time MA-Resident position. Upon successful completion of the program and passing the certification exam, you would be eligible to be hired into a full-time MA- Certified position.

If offered a position into the training program, you will be employed as a full time MA-Resident. Upon completion of the training program and passing of the certification exam, you will have the opportunity to apply for a transfer to a position as a Medical Assistant-Certified.

Earn a paycheck while getting paid training by MultiCare.

* This is a paid training program. You will be compensated as a full-time employee for the duration of the program.

* Program participants will have a benefit eligible position with the appropriate waiting period.

Time Commitment:

* The program is typically 4.5-5 months long depending on holidays. There are no extended breaks.

* Monday-Friday. During this time, some days of the week will be in classroom or skills learning environment while others are in clinic learning side-by side with a current Medical Assistant Certified. Those days are variable depending on the stage of the program.

*Typical hours are between 8am and 5pm, with potential minor variation while working in the clinic.

* If offered a position, the candidate will sign a two-year agreement to remain employed with MultiCare in a Medical Assistant role.

The Medical Assistant- Registration and Medical Assistant Certification will be:

*Filed after approximately 4-6 weeks of schooling is completed. Signed by a healthcare practitioner endorsing him or her to perform specific tasks authorized in RCW 18.360.050(4). Valid as long as the MA-Resident is continuously employed by the same health care practitioner, clinic or group practice. The MA-Resident will shadow staff until the MA-Registration application is submitted.

* Medical Assistant- Registration: This will be started during the program. MultiCare will cover the cost and will be obtained via the Training Program and in collaboration with MultiCare after your start date.

* The Medical Assistant-Certification will be filed towards the end of the program, which will be approved by the Department of Health after completion of clinical hours and passing the national certification exam.

Minimum Requirements:

* Must be enrolled in a recognized Medical Assistant training program that is in partnership with MultiCare (this is already done by MultiCare).

Education/Licenses/Certifications:

* High School Diploma or equivalent

* CPR Certification obtained through MultiCare within 2-4 weeks of hire

Required Supplies:

  • Closed Toe shoes required - candidate's preference.
  • Scrubs
  • Stethoscope
  • A watch with a second hand

*Detailed information about supplies will be provided at time of offer

Optional Supplies:

  • Laptop/Desktop for self-study needs.
  • Notebook/notecards/pen, pencil etc.
  • Blood Pressure Cuff/Manual, regular adult size for practice at home.

Position Summary

The Medical Assistant-Resident (MA-Resident) is a full-time MultiCare employee while also participating as a student in a Medical Assistant training program that is supported/recognized by MultiCare.

The MA-Resident may perform duties under the direction of a mentor/preceptor in alignment with the topics that the MA-Resident has studied or practiced in the Medical Assistant training program.

In addition, the MA-Resident will have an attestation for Medical Assistant-Registered that is filed with the Department of Health that allows independent practice of identified tasks. The Medical Assistant- Registration will be:
-Filed after approximately 4-6 weeks of schooling is completed.
-Signed by a healthcare practitioner endorsing him or her to perform specific tasks authorized in RCW 18.360.050(4).
-Valid as long as the MA-Resident is continuously employed by the same health care practitioner, clinic or group practice.

Requirements

  • Must be enrolled in a recognized Medical Assistant training program that is in partnership with MultiCare
  • Preferred one (1) year experience with direct patient care in clinical or hospital setting
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • CPR Certification obtained within 2-4 weeks of hire

Pay and Benefit Expectations

We provide a comprehensive benefits package, including competitive salary, medical, dental and retirement benefits and paid time off. As required by various pay transparency laws, we share a competitive range of compensation for candidates hired into each position. The pay scale is $19.13 - $27.53 USD. However, pay is influenced by factors specific to applicants, including but not limited to: skill set, level of experience, and certification(s) and/or education. If this position is associated with a union contract, pay will be reflective of the appropriate step on the pay scale to which the applicant's years of experience align.
