The products our portfolio include Microsoft Fabric, Azure SQL DB, Azure Cosmos DB, Azure PostgreSQL, Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Service Bus, Azure Event Grid, and Power BI. Our mission is tobuild the data platform for the age of AI, powering a new class of data-first applications and driving a data culture. Within Azure Data, the databases team builds and maintains Microsoft's operational Database systems. We store and manage data in a structured way to enable multitude of applications across various industries. We are on a journey to enable developer friendly, mission-critical, AI enabled operational Databases across relational, non-relational and OSS offerings. Azure PostgreSQL is a rapidly growing team inside Azure Data and Microsoft and we're looking for a Principal Software Engineering Manager who has experience in building world class team and are excited about building large scale managed database cloud services. If you love the engineering challenges of designing and delivering cutting-edge, cloud-scale distributed systems, if you have experience with internals of PostgreSQL or other database systems, storage systems, container orchestration platforms, operational systems and are committed to developing fault tolerant, performant, self-managing, self-healing services hosting mission critical customer workloads and are operated at massive scale, this role is for you! ResponsibilitiesDeliver success through empowerment and accountability by modeling, coaching, and caring. Attract and retain great people; Know each individual's capabilities and aspirations; Invest in the growth of others. Collaborate with team members to plan, architect, implement and deliver new features and experiences. Oversee partnership with appropriate stakeholders (e.g., project manager, technical lead) to determine user requirements within and across teams for multiple solutions or product lines. Keep informed of and communicates new standards to ensure that the product development and scaling is to customer requirements, applying best practices for meeting scaling needs and performance expectations.Enable and fosters cross-team communications to drive cross-functional results and resolves conflicts between teams. Define team objectives and outcomes; Enable success across boundaries; Help the team adapt and learn. Provide technical and team leadership in efforts to collect, classify, and analyze complex data and analyses on a range of metrics (e.g., health of the system, where bugs might be occurring). Leads the refinement of products through data. Embody our culture and values
