OverviewMicrosoft Silicon, Cloud Hardware, and Infrastructure Engineering (SCHIE) is the team behind Microsoft's expanding Cloud Infrastructure and responsible for powering Microsoft's "Intelligent Cloud" mission. SCHIE delivers the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft's over 200 online businesses including Bing, MSN, Office 365, Xbox Live, Teams, OneDrive, and the Microsoft Azure platform globally with our server and data center infrastructure, security and compliance, operations, globalization, and manageability solutions. We are looking for a phenomenal Principal Hardware Program Manager, Manager with a passion for customer focused solutions, insight and industry knowledge to envision and implement future technical solutions that will manage and optimize the Cloud infrastructure. As Microsoft's cloud business continues to grow, the ability to deploy new offerings and hardware infrastructure on time, at high volume with high quality and lowest cost is of paramount importance. To achieve this goal, the Hardware, Infrastructure Management, and Fundamentals Engineering (HIFE) team is instrumental in defining and delivering operational measures of success for hardware manufacturing, improving the planning process, quality, delivery, scale, and sustainability related to Microsoft cloud hardware. This Principal Hardware Program Manager, Manager role leading the Cloud High Power Delivery & Liquid Cooling end-to-end system solution infrastructure will play a pivotal role in delivering new hardware and software technologies at scale that have a significant impact to the business and Azure. This candidate will collaborate with both internal Microsoft teams and external suppliers (OEMs/ODMs, GPU's, CPU, power sub-system, system integrators and others) to drive delivery of core technologies that enable our Cloud infrastructure. ResponsibilitiesManage a team of PMs who drive virtual teams of functional leads including members from hardware and software engineering, sourcing, supply chain for documenting a clear Plan-of-Record (POR) for the new product development, multi-sourcing supplier development, and leading the project team to meet stated milestones.Technical Program Management for new Cloud hardware development in high power delivery and liquid cooling solution design. Drive the development, planning & execution of a holistic cross functional product development and/or launch strategy. Provides technical leadership and identify technical risks.Collaborate with internal and external technology development partners to form a cohesive development plan.Have an in-depth understanding of the product technical requirements, milestones, deliverables, and interdependencies for establishing an accurate and effective project infrastructure. Leverage experience and engineering skills to solve problems, fill gaps and achieve objectives through a cross functional team.Responsible for effective communication and escalation of risks and dependencies while ensuring timely decisions are being made.Hold accountability for team and most or all portions of the work to deliver best in class architecture solutions.Conducts risk management efforts in new product introduction, scenario planning and mitigation of risks, recovery from risks. Communicate to and regularly interact with leadership, highlighting risks across functional teams and providing recommendations to support product level decisions.Operate effectively in ambiguity. Apply process where it creates value, and design process where it's needed. Recognize the situations where each approach is most appropriate.Ensure cross functional alignment: generating clarity, tracking towards development milestones and overall readiness for all new Data Center infrastructure development, launch, and deployments.Use program management tools and communication methods to ensure common understanding of program plan of record to stakeholders.Monitor and measure engineering impact and performance results by tracking key performanceindicators.
