Cost Estimator

Bluehawk Consulting is seeking an Aerospace Cost Estimator Consultant to support our internal product development initiatives for aerospace applications.

Project Overview
As a consultant, you will play a critical role in conducting thorough cost analysis and estimation across various components and subsystems, contributing to the success of our aerospace projects.
Responsibilities
  • Cost Estimation Analysis: Conduct in-depth analysis to develop accurate cost estimates for a wide range of aerospace components including machined parts, castings/forgings, aerospace structures, welding/joining, valves, tubing, avionics, harnesses, and composites.
  • Collaboration with Engineering: Work closely with element leads and engineering teams to derive component, subsystem, and product-level costs using a variety of parametric cost modeling techniques.
  • Trade Studies and Make or Buy Decisions: Assist in trade studies and make or buy decisions by providing comprehensive cost estimates and analysis. Support design-for-manufacture studies and provide valuable insights for supplier negotiations.
  • Development of Cost Estimating Models: Develop and refine cost estimating models and relationships tailored to specific aerospace applications. Utilize estimating tools, such as Apriori, where applicable to provide accurate estimates.
  • Subcontractor Proposal Evaluations: Support subcontractor proposal evaluations by reviewing and analyzing Basis of Estimates (BOEs), ensuring accuracy and consistency.
  • Cost Volume Analysis: Conduct cost volume analysis to evaluate cost drivers, identify opportunities for cost optimization, and ensure competitiveness in pricing strategies.
  • Bill of Materials (BOM) Analysis: Construct and analyze complex bills of materials, manufacturing processes, and associated costs, providing detailed insights to inform decision-making processes.
  • Project Management: Manage complex projects related to cost estimation, ensuring timely delivery of accurate estimates and alignment with project objectives.
Required Skills & Experience
  • Proven experience in aerospace cost estimation, with a minimum of 3 years in a consulting or advisory role.
  • Strong understanding of aerospace engineering principles, manufacturing processes, and supply chain dynamics.
  • Proficiency in parametric cost modeling and cost estimation techniques specific to aerospace applications.
  • Experience in trade studies, make, or buy decisions, and design-for-manufacture studies within the aerospace industry.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and refine cost estimating models and relationships tailored to specific aerospace components and subsystems.
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to interpret complex data and make informed decisions.
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and present findings to stakeholders.
Education
Required Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.

Desired Education
  • Advanced degree.

Salary Range for this position: $92,000 - $102,000
